Government Notifies PB-4 Pay for Lieutenant Colonels

After a seven-month-long fight demanding pay parity with their civilian counterparts, over 15,000 officers of the armed forces will take home enhanced salaries from this month.

The armed forces headquarters on Tuesday notified amended orders to place the 15,000 Army Lieutenant Colonels, IAF Wing Commanders and Navy Commanders under Pay Band-4 of the Sixth Pay Commission.

However, these officers, who form the backbone of the armed forces’ fighting units, are not “entirely” happy with the notification, citing the lower Grade Pay of Rs 8,000 accorded to them compared to Rs 8,400 to their civilian counterparts under the new pay commission that came into effect on September 1 last year.

“The amended notification for placing Lt Cols and equivalents in Pay Band-4 of the Sixth Pay Commission has been issued today,” sources in the tri-services headquarters said in New Delhi.

“We are not entirely happy with it, as the parity in grade pay with our civilian services counterparts is not been met, though our long wait for enhanced pay is now over,” a Lt Col-rank officer in the Services headquarters in New Delhi told PTI.

But, the several lakhs of jawans, who form the fighting force, are still awaiting the notification for restoration of 70 per cent pensionary weightage, a Sixth Pay Commission anomaly that all sections of the government agreed was fully justified.

Shivi's Marriage on 14 Apr

As I said earlier, we all were there for Shivi's marriage and the added attraction was reviving of old memories with all ,specially Chow. Chow's home was the Ops as well as adm HQ. I grabbed his master bed room and he was forced to sleep in the drawing room. His mother has become frail. She can barely talk, which only Chow and Mrs Chow can understand. Hats off to them .They really look after her.

As regards to Shivi's marriage, it was a grand affair. It was in the SOI of central comd. our old Doc Nishal was also there as he had come for some conference to Lucknow. We all broke of late at night. Col Awasthi for once was looking a little tired and also releived at the same time.

In this whole event children had lots of fun . Silky,Baby, Jasman Cherie and Amu. Gulgul (col Awasthi's son) of course was busy with the marriage .He is a nice boy and studying at AIT Pune.
Ladies have also exchanged notes about each others city's shopping attraction and all of them are planning to visit each other.Good for us we can also have our boozing sessions.

jitender singh chauhan has informed us that the special army order for Lt Col /col (TS) in Pay Band -4 is published as on 21 Apr 2009. So cheers aand enjoy .Hope u get your due in the pay slip of May/June 2009.

A mini get together of 41 at Lucknow

Few old 41 Offrs got together at lucknow on 13 and 14 Apr 09. The Occasion is the marriage of our little 'Shivi' the daughter of Col Sharad Awasthi at Surya offrs institute of Central Comd. The following attended the marriage and enjoyed the hospitality's of Col Awasthi duly supported by Chow.

3. Col & Mrs JS Chauhan , Silky and Baby.
4. Lt Col & Mrs Ram Pal Parasher and Amu.(drove down from Jhansi)
5. Maj Earth Kukreti who is posted in 41 Inf Bde here at lucknow.
6. Of course myself along with Leela and the younger one Cherie.

I drove from Gwalior and I can tell you driving a Non AC maruti 800 in summers, reminded me of my days in unit when we used to drive tank in ex. I think next time I will not be so adventures.
Here in Lucknow I occupied Chow's master bed room and drove him out to drawing room.
Others had to contend with various guest rooms.Yesterday was the party for all guests and today (14 Apr) is the marriage. I tell you it was really fun meeting the friends again. Col & Mrs Awasthi and Chow really looked after all of us. Chow's famous hospitality is still in place so after the party we all in 'tun' condition had to suffer that hospitality of Chow. He opened red label for us and the day ended only at 2.00 in the night. Today there was lunch at Chow's house for all 41 offrs and we had another round of booze. now I will close and tell you more later as we all are getting ready for the marriage.

Kats has send NEWS from Secunderabad

Here is the brief of the station:-

DD's had come to Secunderabad on pre retirement LTC trip with Mrs DD Sharma & the daughter. Col DD’s health has improved but he is as jolly as ever. They had a get together Katoch and Col and Mrs Noor Mohd. Naru met him next day and Lu was too busy moving in & out of the station.

Maj Alok Srivastava is on Pre staff here. He has turned Veggie (says a voice came from within). Saala agle janam main deserves to be grass eating species. Saving grace is that he still drinks like seasoned 41st. His wife is a fauji from Engrs. She is presently posted in Pune. It is an internet marriage. She joined him on 16 Mar upto 21 mar.

Naru,s son Manas doing Engr. Younger one Shreyas busy studying and Mrs Narla is teaching.

Lu - Turned fatso. Daughter is in 12th and brilliant in studies. Son keeps him on the toes. Begum being kept on toes by trio. He is the national head of a MNC called CSC. He is usually out of town five days a week. Recession has done some good by cutting down some of his trips.

Col SN Mohd is his usual self. He is now waiting to hang his spurs( final Al Vida from fauj) in Apr. daughter Ruhi is with TCS at Chennai after doing her MBA. Son Riyaz married in Feb . The girl is from Lucknow. All 41 guys in station attended his marriage.

In last one year station was visited by Suri ( Col SS Mahal) twice (both time to CDM), Capt Vineet Saurabh and Brig Vijay Saxena.

I am keeping my vision very clear duly assisted by daily dose of medication. We plan to stay for a year plus till Mithu finally decides his future either way. Mithu is presently in 12 class.

Thank God some one is reading it

This time Sainna narla not only saw the blog but did give information about him. Thanks naru sir for that keep contributing ,and I hope ur appeal to the offr serving in the unit will make some impression.

Another surprise connection we got is from Mrs Vivek (Bountia) from Chennai . U can see her comment in the blog . She wrote :-

Great blog, its wonderful to get all the updates on everyone, vivek n I had a great time going through all the comments, well here is a little updates from our side too, we will be finally moving out of Tamil Nadu after 5 yrs for Kanpur by the 1st week of june. Shreya is giving her 10th board n Vikhyaat is in the 6th class."

Yesterday I got a call from sanjay Thakur who is in Rangia as AAG . He is now posted to Embarkation HQ at Mumbai and is to move by Jun 09. He is planning to take the family. Karisma has just finished her 12 class and keen to pursue Hotel managment.

Manmohan is in Ambala and on study leave he really seems to be enjoying.

Col Sharad Awasthi's Daughter Shivi is getting married on 13 Apr at Lucknow. I am going along with Leela and Cherie. Cherie has just finished her cl 10 Board and needs a break.

I also heard that Col TS Mann's elder Daughter Natasha got married on 14 Feb at chandigarh.

Rest there is not much of news as of now
